[_haywire_]
A letter to the public in case I am murdered

I can't believe I'm about to turn 26. This has been the worst year of my life. Never did I think it was possible to receive so many threats against my life for attempting to create social change within a tiny subculture. Never did I think that I would get raped and that this would cause people in this tiny subculture to turn this traumatic experience into a joke.

Two weeks after I was raped this "big time producer" was threatening to have me gang raped. I guess he found it funny. I called the police and they said the same thing that they usually did. "We can't do anything because it's out of state." Of course it's out of state. It's a violent gang of neo-nazi's who have physically attacked me before. One of them set my clothes on fire and then violently beat the shit out of me. I was told that if I did anything about this I would be murdered.

These people aren't simply in New York. Or Los Angeles. Or Pittsburgh. They're scattered like fleas. It's not just internet drama. Quit saying that it's just internet drama. It's massive industry mobbing. It's playing with my life. It has happened at my own gigs. It has happened at clubs I've attended. My own mother has received death threats.

"Just ignore them." Just ignore threats against my life? Just ignore one attack after another? How is that supposed to solve anything? "Just focus on your music." I am focusing on my music but I'm afraid to release it. The better I do with my music the more these people attack me. "Just move on." I'm sorry but that's weak. How am I supposed to move on after all of this? Why should I? Would you?

People say that I'm making everything up and that I've gone psychotic. What have I made up? Even the police have looked at the evidence. They feel bad for me. That's what they say. "We feel bad for you but unfortunately there is nothing that we can do to help you." This is not a publicity stunt. It's the legal system unwilling to help me because this gang is scattered throughout this entire country: because there isn't enough money to be made in such a tiny industry: because I don't have enough money to give.

My friends are worried about me. They send me messages of support. They mean the world me. They tell me to keep going. That I shouldn't let these people bring me down. That they know what this is like. I have an entire army behind me but who is going to stop this gang from playing with my life? When is it going to end? Will it ever?

People say that by making posts like this I am "giving them what they want." Maybe yes and maybe no. Does that mean I don't have the right to express how I feel? People say that I am "playing victim." Where is the act? Where is the stage? I don't see myself playing anything.

All I want for my birthday is money. Maybe that sounds selfish but until I get a certain amount of money I will have no way of getting any legal assistance. I have exhausted every possible option. It all comes down to me not having enough money to receive legal help. What if they actually kill me? What if this could have been prevented by the authorities? Who will be to blame?

If I end up getting killed I will have this post as a final record of what has been going on. People will know the truth. The only thing I can hope is that the truth will not be drowned out by this violent gang that has been fucking with my life and career for the past 4 years. Even now I am afraid to say who they are. Yet many people know who they are. If I end up getting killed these people will go to jail for the rest of their lives. I don't want to get murdered (does anyone?) but these people definitely deserve to go to jail. Will they? Who knows? They seem to know how to manipulate the law pretty well. They have done this to other people. I'm definitely not the first. I would like to be the last but not at the expense of my own existence.

apple macs and ethiopian food [Nov. 13th, 2009|10:23 pm]

[Tags|, , , ]

Just back from meeting with the u.c.s.m people at the Apple Store (yes, I did spend too much money on a mouse) and dinner at Merkato, the Ethiopian restaurant in Cally Road. The latter was excellent. Good food and good company -but ate way too much (you kind of don't notice, when you're scooping out food in little bits out of a, what to call it, communal plate) and now I don't think I can go out again (although probably should go out jogging from here to Kings' Cross and back again, given the amount of food consumed..)

Overheard as I was getting into Kings Cross station: somebody with Australian accent says to his friend "But of course! Does the Pope shit in the woods..?"

New t-shirts - Technoviking, Diamanda Has Posse and The Addiction... [Nov. 13th, 2009|01:08 am]

mark13
Okay, a few brand new t-shirts for your delectation...

Firstly, the long awaited Technoviking one. As you can see, available in a variety of colours, and sizes - just let me know what size, shape and print you're after, and also whether you want the sorta freeform outline thing you may observe on the black and one of the khaki examples. £15 each...

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Next, and I'm rather proud of this one, is my mash-up of Obey Giant and Diamanda Galas, as in the first pic below. Currently available on red only (other colours being experimented on in twisted, cackling mad scientist manner), and this one is a little more expensive at £20, as it's a lot more work, and has a back print and everything.

Also below is a t-shirt for everyone's favourite philosophical vampire film (or is that vampiric philosophy film?), The Addiction. Available in deep, goffik black, for a bargain price of only £13...

Any questions or requests, please let me know.

Cool thing, local... [Nov. 13th, 2009|12:17 am]

chris_damage
Some of you may remember being desperatley dissapointed by this debacle...Self Non Self cancelled out from under us at the last minute - how shit was that!?!

Well fear not, for we are about to make a triumphant belated return. Thing is it's in Stokey (more or less) and it's on a Wednesday night so we're not exactly going ot be swamped by passing trade (at least for the first couple). Later there will be branding and whoring and generally swearing blind that it will be awesome (the last happens to be true). But right now I want to call in all kinds of favours to make sure that we secure our toehold in London's Trendy Dalston.

So come, really do, the music is awesome and it's right near your houses in many cases and once we're established you can stop coming but it will always be there if you want it.

IT'S FREE AND WE'RE NOT GETTING PAID SO I FEEL PERFECTLY JUSTIFIED IN ASKING THIS.

EDIT It's going to be at the Moustache Bar, which is on Stokey High Street - full details will follow. It's on WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 2nd 9th 2009 - MID WEEK BUT JUST AFTER PAYDAY.

Special Guest DJ Jo Cliche joins Chris Damage and Suicide Ally for a night of indie/industrial shoe-gaze no wave feedback experimental soundscapes: 4ad, associates, automata, babes in toyland, autumn, bauhaus, breeders, big black, birdland, birthday party, bjork, cabaret voltaire, catherine wheel, cocteau twins, cranes, cure, curve, dada, daf, daisy chainsaw, bowie, depeche mode, diamanda galas, dinosaur jr, dresden dolls, einstürzende neubauten, existentialism, fad gadget, foetus, found objects, futurism, ghosts, jesus and mary chain, joy division, kate bush, killing joke, kraftwerk, lard, lush, lydia lunch, meg lee chin, my bloody valentine, negation, nick cave, nitzer ebb, factory floor, peaches, pil, pixies, pj harvey, prick, queen adreena, recoil, revco, ride, sheep on drugs, slowdive, smashing pumpkins, screaming trees, shellac, big pink, sneaker pimps, suicide, sonic youth, vorticism, violent femmes, x-mal deutschland, yeah yeah yeahs, the young gods.

Seriously, no promotor shit, we were just at the venue tonight and it was pretty cheap (under 8 quid for 3 drinks which is pretty good these days), it's local, they have a really nice smoking area and the place is cool and the staff are really nice. It would be really, really awesome if this could just be this place we went every month (for free) to hang out with our chums and listen to cool music that we mostly all like and generally never gets played in clubs and that will totally happen happen as long as a whole bunch of us show up for the the first one.

Please excuse my lack of professionalism, I'm just really pumped about this and i want it to go well, conventional flyers and stuff will follow...

The lovely Rene is coming for a visit - I don't think I ever laugh so much as when she is around. Looking forward to hanging out.

And it's Robbie's 30th tomorrow. I've baked a cake, although it fell a bit flat. Put up banners and balloons. Bought him a flying lesson for his main pressie.

We've got vague plans to see 2012, catch a band and havve dinner at a Meadery. And Emma might join us for quiz and karaoke on Sunday.

Hurray! Living for the weekend...

Новинки Mikroton Recordings [Nov. 12th, 2009|06:35 pm]

industrial

[kurt_liedwart]
[music |Kaffe Matthews - Andrea Neumann - Sachiko M - I. (Part Two) | Powered by Last.fm]

С гордостью представляю 2 новых релиза на Mikroton Recordings.

[mikroton cd 3]
Jason Kahn / Asher — Planes

[mikroton cd 4]
Werner Dafeldecker / Christof Kurzmann /
John Tilbury / Stevie Wishart — s/t (Violet CD)

Extended Versions, Orchestra 33 1/3, Schnee, The Magic I.D. и The Year Of, куда также входит его давний партнер и коллега Дафельдекер.

A thin, flavourless film... [Nov. 12th, 2009|12:17 pm]

mark13
Or rather, a couple of them, and a rather good one.

First up, the good one - R-Point is a Korean film that essentially mashes up the not-so-well-known story of the Korean army in Vietnam with the by-now very familiar tropes of Far Eastern horror films. It uses a lot of classic, possibly slightly over-familiar imagery - blood pouring from radios, a long black-haired women in a white dress - but it is effectively creepy (which is quite an achievement in scenes shot in broad daylight in the middle of a field) and suitably incomprehensible.

As I think Razorblade Smile was a big pool of arse-dribble, I'd been avoiding the follow-up, Evil Aliens, but then I found the DVD for a quid, which you can't really argue with. To be honest, it's not *quite* as terrible as RBS, being much shorter and played more for laughs than pompous portentousness. However, it's clearly shooting for some sort of Bad Taste type cult feel, which it fails at by being way too pedestrian, and nowhere near surreal or funny enough, which brings the very poor acting and direction into sharp contrast (suprisingly okay effects though). My DVD player gave up in despair twenty minutes from the end, and as yet I haven't mustered any interest in finishing watching the rest.

While I was expecting Evil Aliens to be shit, I was hoping for good things from Transsiberian, as it was directed by the chap who filmed The Machinist and Session 9, and starred Ben Kingsley. It started well, too. A twisty story set on the eponymous choo-choo, featuring drugs, criminals and corrupt Russian coppers, with good pace and some stunningly shot Russian vistas. Then it just, erm, stopped. Really, just as I was expecting a scene to be a lull before a big finale, that scene turned out to be the end. There was also a very odd scene where one of the characters nearly falls off the train, Harold Lloyd style, for no discernible reason.

Somehow a film that nearly achieves greatness and then stuffs it is more disappointing than one that was crap all the way through.

I finished reading 'The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night Time' last night as well, which was an excellent book - beautifully written, heart-warming and sad in equal measure, and ingeniously clever and quirky. Highly recommended.

I've also enjoyed From Our Own Correspondent recently, bless its slightly patrician orientalist heart. The correspondents seem to care passionately about the regions they're in, the short length of each piece breeds rich variety, and each episode is full of FACTS. My favourite from today's episode being that one of the main football teams in Sierra Leone are called the 'All Powerful Bulldozers'.
